My major concern with Octodad is this: The game is basically squatting on the line between difficult and frustrating (a very fine line, I might add) the game will occasionally switch between the two. The game certainly lacks in content, but this is made up for with excellent replayability through collectable ties and developer time attacks. ODC is filled with personality, from the ridiculousness of an octopus in a blue suit carrying out the duties of a father, to witty, charmingly comical dialogue. The sequel, Dadliest Catch, aims more to create a hilarious game than a frustrating one. The controls, though intentionally so, leaned too far onto the side of frustrating. … Expandīack when the original Octodad came out as a student project by the then-new developer Young Horses, my feelings were a bit on the negative Back when the original Octodad came out as a student project by the then-new developer Young Horses, my feelings were a bit on the negative side. OMFG don't even get me started on the music either, the theme song is amazing and I could listen to it for hours. A 10/10 game and I'm still waiting for the sequel. The story of an octopus dressed up as a human going around his normal life sounds weird and stupid but it's captivating and interesting, the beginning kept my interest so I could see where this squids day could go and the ending was beautiful and wholesome. I struggled a bit on the boat mission because I didn't see the proper way across but I'm so glad I did because the sailors had some lines that made me laugh out loud. Its story line is fun and doesn't take itself too seriously, its gameplay may be wacky and weird but it feels defined and original, the writing for NPC's are really funny, I stayed around in some levels just so I can hear the NPC's talk and tell jokes.
